Dr. Racheal M. McKinney has been passionate about working with animals all of her life. She grew up in Waddell, Arizona where her family had a small 2 acre farm. Dr. McKinney fell in love with horses, and by the age of 13 she had gotten her first dun paint mare, joined the local 4H Waddell Hoofprints Club, and had quickly started to learn about hard work and responsibility. She learned how to ride English and Western, and competed at the local, state, and national level. Dr. McKinney attended high school in Goodyear, became very active in the FFA, showed a variety of livestock, competing on many career development events, and traveled with the high school rodeo circuit.
Dr. McKinney attended Arizona State University, where she earned her B.S. in Agribusiness Sciences. Dr. McKinney completed veterinary school at Western University of Health Sciences in Southern California, where she focused on mixed animal practice and was an active member of Equine Club, Veterinary Business Club, and Bovine Club. Dr. McKinney has completed multiple poultry externships and enjoys working with backyard flocks and producers as well with other fowl producers and breeders. She still enjoys working with horses and small ruminants.
